Born in Wales on May 12, 1878 in Capel LLanilltern, Glamorgan County. He died in Plymouth, PA on November 7, 1948. Alice Ann Barnes was born on September 15, 1877. Offspring: Raymond, Reginald, Samuel, Percy, Clifford, Frederick Leslie, Orville (my father), Millicent E., and Lillian. Samuel's mother was Gwen Shugar (nee Adams). His father, Samuel, was a shepherd, an agricultural laborer, and a coal miner. On the 1881 census for Wales, he and family were residing at 40 Rhys Street, Trealaw, Glamorgan County.
