James Theodore Bownds was born August 23, 1878. He was converted and joined the Corinth Baptist Church at the age of 16 years and was a member there all his life. He was married to Sarah Catherine Tribble July 16, 1905. To this union was born six children, four daughters and two sons. One daughter preceded him in death October 1, 1945. He passed away October 29, 1956 after a long illness. He leaves a wife and five children and a host of friends and relatives to mourn his going. He was laid to rest in the Meador cemetery to await the coming of the lord. Brother Bownds was a member of the Corinth Church 62 years. The church has lost a devoted member. He was always at his post of duty until his health failed him. But our loss is Heaven's gain. He would say to his loved ones that we know it is hard to give up those we love but the Lord said "Blessed are those who die in the lord for they rest from their labors." We know that he will live again in a world where there will be no more sickness, no sorrow, no death. Let us all be submissive to his will and live a consecrated life as Brother Bownds and we will be reunited some day. Don't think of him as dead but just moved away for awhile. His influence still lives in our minds and hearts. Be it resolved that a copy of these resolutions be spread on the minutes and a copy sent to the family.
