Find Family

* DeRidder and Simon Lines*

Updated June 7, 2008

Our family tree, like yours, has many branches, some long, some shorter but they are all part of our tree. The SIMON/LANDRY line is the cajun part with many settling in Louisiana and Texas. This line has been researched back to the 1700's and includes other families such as: Whittington, Clark, Trahan, Duhon, Sellers, Aucoin, Breaux, and the Melancon.

The DeRidder/Holbrook line is of course the Puritan branch with many settling in New York state and on the Eastern coast of the United States. The DeRidder's have been researched back to the 1600's and the Holbrook's only as far back as the 1800's. This line also includes the Morris, Crawford, Bell, Gilchrist, Schermerhorn, Van Schaick, Van der Poole, Van Ness, Van der Zee, Barnett, Smith, Murray, Abell, Brewster and the Morehouse families.

This mystery of the past is like a puzzle with many pieces missing but with time and help from others, and good old hard work, these pieces will make up a picture of the origin of our beliefs, morals, and values. If I can help anyone find a piece to their puzzle, just contact me, and I will be following every clue I can find and will also be contacting you. Hope to hear from you soon.
