Born to Carl W and Zelda Simpkins on June 5, 1941, he was employed as a river boat captain with AEP River Transporatation. He attended the Church of God in Point Pleasant. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Carl C and Verna Simpkins Doss: maternal grandparents Earnest and Edna Fetty; brother-in-law Harold Stewart. He is survived by his parents, Carl and Zelda Simpkins of Point Pleasant; daughters Cathy J Simpkins Blakenship of Gallipolis, Ohio, Mellissa M Simpkins (Paul) Wolfe of Leon, and Kayla Sommer Simpkins of Point Pleasant; sons Carl David (Jeanie) Simpkins of Racine, Ohio, John "Crocket" Simpkins of Point Pleasant, Todd Hamilton (Dee Dee) Simpkins of Peninsula, FL, and Clifford Clay Simpkins of Hendersonville, N.C.; brothers Billy (Betty Jo) Simpkins of Point Pleasant, Harry "Moke" (Pam) Simpkins of Point Pleasant, Richard Simpkins of Point Pleasant, and Wesley "Tom" (Michelle) Simpkins of Nicholasville, Ky; sisters Elizabeth Stewart of Point Pleasant, Carolyn "Sue" (Larry) Roach of Melbourne, FL, Tammy (Charles) Grimes of Letart, and Debbie (Scott) Stewart of Point Pleasant, 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home at 2 pm with Pastor Carl Swisher presiding. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in New Haven. Friends may call on Saturday, Feb 2, 2002, from 7 to 9 pm at Wilcoxen.
