Ida Rebecca Taft Simp;on, of 3051 Rio Dosa Dr., wife of the Rev. Arthur E. Simpson, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 1997.A native of Lexington, she was a daughter of the late John Joseph and Ida Jessamine Murphy Taft. She was a long-time member of Arlington Christian Church where she had been a Kinder garten and Sunday School Teacher. She was also a member of the Darnell Bible Class. A volunteer in the donor lounge for the Central KY Blood Center, she had been a Girl Scout leader for 22 years and a Cub Scout den mother for 23 years where she was one of the first women in Lexington to receive the Silver Beaver Award. Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Arthur E. Simpson, II; a grand daughter, Renee Christeen Simpson; two great-grandsons, Corey and Aarron; a sister, Mrs. Wilburn (Thelma) House; and two brothers, Albert and Gayle Taft, all of Lexington. She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. Funeral services will be 10 am. Wednesday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home by the Rev. Michael Armstrong, the Rev. Michael Doerr and the Rev. Heather Schimmel. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Bearers will be James Marshall, Frank Simpson Jim Porter, David White, Steve Shook, Connie Whalen, Billy Stevens, and Tupper Hardman. Honorary beai-ers will be the members of the Darnell Bible Class. Visitation will be from 2:30 to 5 p.m. and 6:30 to 9 p.m. today. Contributions are suggested to Arlington Christian Church Memorial Fund, 1206 N Limestone, 40505.
