Notes for Floyd E. Simmons:There is a Floyd E. Simmons buried in the Waelder City Cemetery in Gonzales county, TX.I assume this is the brother of Woodie Warren Simmons who is buried there as well.
I did not know Floyd's middle initial until this discovery.He was also listed as being in the US Navy as Ships Cook 2nd Class.
Floyd died in 1924 having lived only 31 years.

Floyd Simmons, aged 31 died in a sanitarium at Deming, New Mexico at 9:25 Friday April 11 and was buried in the city cemetery here.Funeral services are being held at the Methodist Church Monday morning at 10:00 o'clock conducted by Rev. D. H. Heard.Floyd had been in ill health for sometime and had gone to El Paso and to Deming for treatment.But he steadily grew worse until Friday morning when the end came.When the United States entered the world war the young man answered his country's call and entered the service of the Navy where he served during the entire war.It was in this service that he contracted the illness that finally caused his untimely death.He is survived by his Mother Mrs. J.P. Simmons of Houston, two brothers T.H. and John Simmons of Houston, and three sisters Mrs. S.F. Hart of Gonzales, Mrs. B.F. Pettit of Houston, and Mrs. Dave Wade of Gonzales with other relatives who mourn his loss with whom the New Era deeply sympathizes.
His sister, Ethel Simmons,was married to Sam Hart, a sheriff here in Gonzales County for many years.
Although this is speculation on the researcher's part, there was a sanitarium at Camp Cody in Deming, New Mexico.It may be that Floyd had tuberculosis.
