* The Fish Family Home Page*

Updated September 6, 2000

I am researching my maiden name of Fish. My Family lived in Lancashire, England and I have traced them back to 1819. They lived in a village called Mellor, Blackburn and I found four generations lived there untill they moved to Preston and then Blackpool.
My GGG Grandfather was George Fish, wife Alice, they had eight children, and worked in the cotton factory. They had a son Nathanial, wife Mary and seven chilren, who also worked in the cotton factorys back in 1861. Nathanial had a son John, wife Isabella and four children. John worked as a builders clerk and Isabella a grocer, they had three chilren. They had a son called John Frederick Fish and he was my Grandfather. He worked as a architectual surveyor and moved to Blackpool, he was married to Elizabeth Wilkinson from Bacup, and they had seven chilren. They had a son called David Alec, he was my father.

I am trying to research the family back further, but I now have to locate parish church records for the area where he lived in Mellor for my GGGG Granfather's baptism, because births were not recorded after 1837.

I would welcome any information, and would like to help anyone with information if needed.
