I am researching the Mabe's and Pruitt's from North Carolina.I have found my great-grandfather, Lef Mabe, born 1877 and his
wife Roda Pruitt, born 1883. I am looking for additional
information on Roda Pruitt's mother and father. She is believed
to have Cherokee roots. Any additional information would be
greatly appreciated.
I also have information on Owens in Southwestern Virginia to the
late 1800's and the Adams as far back as 1700.
My research has continued into the Sisk (my husbands family)
tree (most from Culpeper, Virginia). James W. Sisk married
to Jean L. Hackney from St Petersburg, FL.
I also have information on some Elswicks and Fletchers originally
from North Carolina.
Here is a list of additional names: Benjamin Adams b:1700, William Adams b:1739, Moses Adams b:1779, Henry Adams b: 1836, Andrew Jackson Adams b: 1873, Martha Adams b: 1913.
Martha Adams married Tom Owens b: 1910 son of George Monroe Owens. Tom and Martha had 9 children, one of which is my mother - Barbara Ellen Owens b: 1941. Barbara married my father Lafayette Mabe b:1938 (son of Willie Mabe b: 1914 and Viola Elswick b:1920). Viola is the daughter of Elgin Elswick b: 1898 and Armande Fletcher b: 1893.
