I AM NEW TO GENEALOGY AND WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP, ADVISE Etc. I HAVE A TREE OF ABOUT 1000 AT THIS TIME AND AM WILLING TO SHARE INFORMATION ETC. THANKS. (PA., OH., IL., MO., IA.)
Am currently seeking information on several of my relatives with Connections to the Six Surname. They are as follows: 1. Ancestors of CHARLES H. SIX b. abt. 1868 in IL. He was killed by a train in 1956, in Ottumwa, IA. Lived most of his life in IA., He had six wives. My grandmother was MAMIE GRACE SHOWMAN. (Born in Hedrick, IA. and died in Ottumwa, IA. abt. 1959). Mamie Showman was married 4 times to BOWERS, having childre, Violet, Timothy, Rose, Fiolet, Freeda J. and John E. Married to GLADSTON, having children Elsie and Annabelle. Married to CHARLES H. SIX having children Walter, Charles and Bertha, adopting Freeda and John E. Bowers. She married WILLIAM EDWARDS, no children. (Need help tracking the SHOWMAN Surname).

2.. Charles H Six's father was WILLIAM DANIEL SIX who moved to Missouri from as far as I can tell from PA. or IL. He was a butcher and farmer probably in the Joplin, or St. Joseph MO. areas. He had children Charles H. Ruby, and Vadie. (Unable to find info.) His father was also called William.

3. WILLIAM SIX came to PA. date unknown but was considered well to do at the time. Mainly because he owned 17 oxen. Believed he moved to IL. pehaps on to MO. (Unable to find more info).

4. Ancestors on my mothers side: DAVID R. SKINNER (my grandfather b. 1889 in Davis Co., IA; d. 1950 in Ottumwa, IA. Believe his father was a GEORGE WASHINGTON? SKINNER. Believe there may be a connection to a CHARLES SKINNER. David R. married Io CLAIRE POTTORFF a child of RICHARD ELLSWORTH POTTORFF and CORA ELIZABETH NIDEY, who had a total of 13 children. David and Io had 3 children, Margaret, Ruth and Virgil. (Need info. on SKINNER, NIDEY, POTTORFF Surnames).

5. Seeking info. on CHARLES SKINNER who married MARGARET HERNDON whose father was from Spain. They lived in Virginia, owning a plantation having several slaves. They had a daughter Isabel. They moved to Trenton, MO. in 1834, where they had a large farm. Charles was reported to have served two terms as a court Judge. His daugther Isabel married ELIJAH MINOR in 1860 when she was 15 years old. She died three years later at the age of 18 in 1863.

6. Seeking information on ancestors of my mothers father, grandfather and great-grandfather. They are: a. Richard Ellsworth Pottorff 1866-1944 He was married to Cora Elizabeth Nidey. (b.1876; d. 1920 Davis Co., IA) b. TIMOTHY MATHAIS NIDEY Nidey 1843- He served in the Civil War, COE, 89th Division. May have been killed. He was married to LUCINDIA JANE THOMPSON having at least three children, Ida, Amy, and John. c. Lucinda Jane's father was thought to be JOHN THOMPSON and his father JOSEPH THOMPSON, whose wife may have been AMY BEALS. Help.

7. Any connections to the following Surnames:
