I am researching the Albert Skar family. Albert was born in 1884 in or near Beirut Lebanon. He left his family at about the age of 17 and came to the US in 1901 with family friends, Ralph Bahna. We believe his last name may have been Sakker or Sakkar, before passing through Ellis Island where it was changed to Skar. He was here in the states for about 1 year before returning to Lebanon where he married Latiffie Sheeha, They came back to the US and lived most of their lives in Grand Rapids, MI. Latiffie was also refered to as Lillie. They had 8 children, 2 sons; George and James, & 6 daughters; Thelma, Bedelia, Esther, Louise, Alice, & Evelyn.

Albert was an only child, but his father had three brothers. The three brothers all went their seperate ways, one to Palestine, one to Jerusalem, and the third went to Syria, I believe.

There are "cousins" last known to live in Montreal,Canada - David & Helen(Wasna)Zeraa. David is the son of Mose Zeraa.

Any information on Albert's family in Lebanon or Latifa's family anywhere, would greatly be appreciated. Please contact me through my e-mail address.
