1. FRANCIS1 NURSE was born January 18, 1617/18 in England, and died November 22, 1695 in Salem, Massachusetts. He married REBECCA TOWNE, daughter of WILLIAM TOWNE and JANE BLESSING.

He was one of the early settlers of Salem. He frequently acted as arbitrator to settle disputes and conflicting claims. He purchased the Bishop farm in 1678.

Rebecca was accused of witchcraftduring the Salem witchtrials, and was hung as a witch. Her family buried her on their homestead, the Bishop farm in Salem Village
