1. ROBERT¹ POLITE¹ was born Bet. 1805 - 1808 in Delaware, and died Bet. 1870 - 1880 in ?. He married (1) CATHARINE AKA KITTYANN PRETTYMAN September 16, 1832 in Pickaway Co, OH, daughter of THOMAS PRETTYMAN. He married (2) ELIZA VESEY May 10, 1834 in Pickaway Co, OH. He married (3) SUSAN MCFALL December 15, 1851 in Scott Co, IL¹, daughter of OREIN MCFALL and LYDIA MARSH.

Notes for ROBERT POLITE:
Robert was from Pickaway County Ohio and originally Delaware. his father may have been James Polite. It seems likely that his brother was Richard Polite who married Lydia Bruvington in Pickaway Co, Ohio. Richard and Lydia lived in Hancock County, Illinois as did Robert and some of his children at one time or another,

farmer acc 1860 Il census.

The 1850 Scott Co, IL census lists children John, Catherine, and Joseph as being born in Ohio , remaining children born in Illinois.

Mabel Polite died 1/23/1880 3yrs 9 mos of diptheria. Buried Naples.
Thomas Lee Polite died 9/3/1881 8 mos dysentry pertussis Naples cemetery.
Maria Polite married John S. Beuttey 4/22/1869 Scott Co IL
Matilda M. Polite age 1 died Oct 1859 unknown cause 35 days illness (1860 mortality schedule, Scott Co.

Notes for SUSAN MCFALL:
WFT lists maiden name as Westfall.
Robert and Susan were found in the Scott Co 1860 census, but not in Scott Co. 1870.
Susan is found as a widow in the Scott Co 1880 census living with her son Nelson age 24 in Township 14, Range 14 Household 51/51. She remarried later in that year.

Notes for JOHN M. POLITE:
lived in Edgar Co IL after emigration from Pickaway Co, Ohio which he left at age of 10. (1845)
Also lived at Naples IL.
Engineer w Frech&Johnson's flouring mill, Ruckel's pottery, C.B.&Q. pump at the reservoir, Samuel Delaney's, and at the old chair factory. (Karen Skinner has a salesman's sample or toy chair made there).
No children.

The IGI index lists John Martin Polite son of Robert and Eliza Polite born 14 Mar 1835 in Pickaway Co Ohio,

John M. Polite was in 119th Illinois Infantry Volunteers Co. G.
His residence at inductionon August 13, 1862 was Lima Illinois. He deserted on October 26, 1864 (Adams County Civil War page on internet).

Notes for GIL POLITE:
Frieda S. notes say that Martha Polite had a brother that met up with some sort of foul play and who may have been named Gil. He disappeared along with his wagon and horses on the way to the mill at Exeter or Oxville, IL and was never heard from again. He may have been only a young teen-ager as he is not listed in the 1850 Scott Co census.
