Ernest Steen

WHITEHALL - Ernest H. Steen, age 84 of Whitehall died Friday, July 27, 2001 at 
his home in Whitehall.

Ernie was born on January 4, 1917, in Preston township to Oscar and Mary 
(Knutson) Steen. He attended high school in Blair and graduated from Whitehall. 
H Married Doris Halvorson on September 28, 1940 in Iowa. Doris preceded Ernie in 
death on October 14, 1985. Ernest was in the Army as a Tec 5 Co B60th Signal 
Battalion and a life long member of Hutchinson-Stendahl American Legion Post 
191.
Mr. Steen is survived by a special friend Dorothy Vito of Whitehall; three 
daughters, Carmen (Harold) of Prairie du Sac, Jerilyn (Richard) Brown of 
Portage, and Lauree (Charles) Hawkinson of Tucson, Arizona; one sister Elaine 
(Ernest) Halvorson of Whitehall; grandchildren Carrie Olson of portage, 
Christine (Jeff Week) Olson of Onalaska, Kevin (Dennis Giese) Skroch of Prairie 
du Sac, Colleen (Bruce) Johnson of Holmen, Raquel (Neal) Grensing of Mondovi, 
John Olson of Portage, Justin Walker and Heather Walker of Elroy and Eric and 
Ernest Hawkinson of Tucson AZ. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren and 
many nieces and nephews. 

Many special thanks to Mimi for caring for dad during his illness.

In addition to his parents and wife, a sister preceded Ernie in death: Myrtle 
Johnson and two infant sister Alice Lillian and Ethel Mae. 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at 11:00 am at Our 
Savior's Lutheran Church, burial at the Lincoln Cemetery, both in Whitehall, 
Wisconsin. Reverend LaMoine Jacobs and Dale Moe will officiate. 

Visitation will be Monday July 30, 2001 from 4-8 in the Jack Funeral Home in 
Whitehall and one hour prior to the services at the church on Tuesday.
