This is the transcription of a note found in material given to my by my Grandpa Ernest 
Steen.  I do not recognize the writing; I know it is not his.   Clarifications by me were 
made in parens, otherwise this is as written. 

Grandpa Peter's Sister:

Mrs. John Lee (Regnhild Stenen or Steen) was born in Oyers Prestegjald Guderands-
Dalen, Norway November 14 – 1863.  Came to America March 1882.  Was married to 
John T. Lee March 21 1885 at the Halfway Creek Parsonage by Rev. C.O. Hjort.  Was 
the mother of 11 children. Besides bringing up her own family she had room in her heart 
for another unfortunate child who had lost her mother at birth. (this would be her niece – 
Elise Steen daughter of Peter Steen and Elisa II Staff) 

She was a fine Christian Mother devoted to her Church and home.  She was also an active 
member of the Ladies Aid.  And served the organization as treasury.  A life membership 
was awarded to her May 10, 1950.  She passed away Sept. 18th, 1954.
