Our family is a true American Melting Pot of individuals from many foreign countries mainly throughout Europe.
The Skwiat family originates from Zawady, Poland and our direct decendants settled in Michigan City, IN around the late 1800's. They were a family of true Polish immigrants who came to America, mostly through Ellis Island, to find fortune in this new land. The family still contains many questions about when they arrived and where else they may have settled? The last name is not a common name here in the U.S., but we have found a concentration of others in the states of Michigan, New Jersey, Illinois, and Conneticut. We are still striving to find out how they could be linked to our family. There are also the branches of the Kozlowski, Pataluch, Condran and Sukniac Families that we are still researching for other links to the Skwiat Family Tree.
The Fahl and Ebling families originate from Germany and has been here since the early 1700's. They settled mainly in Berks County and Schykill County, PA. There are many branches to this family and some family landmarks still remain today. The Ebling Stone Home built by Gideon S. Ebling still stands in Schykill County as well as the Fahl Family Cemetary just down the road. The Ebling Family and Fahl family owned large farms close to each other near Auburn, PA. They seemed to be a prominent family in Auburn around the turn of the last century. Off of this branch comes the Walsh, Freevol, Jacobs and Cox families that we are still working on.
