This site is for the Slattery family of the Monaro district of New South Wales, Australia.
The main names are SLATTERY, PARKER, POWER, MORTLOCK, and DENGATE.

Patrick SLATTERY arrived in Australia in 1832 as a convict from Ireland. He had been found guilty of assault, and sentenced to seven years transportation, the minimum sentence for that time. He was a blacksmith.

Mary Ann PARKER arrived in Australia in 1840, with her father, John PARKER and mother Margaret (nee Reid), sisters Elizabeth, Margaret and Ann Sarah, and brothers Thomas, James and John. Another brother, Joseph, was born in Australia.

Sarah Ann Venus Lavinia DENGATE was born in Bathurst, NSW, Australia in 1857 to John DENGATE and Honorah MUGAN. She married Edward SLATTERY, son of Patrick SLATTERY and Mary Ann PARKER.

Patrick SLATERY (sic) and Mary Ann PARKER were married in Menaroo (sic) in 1841. They had four children, Margaret, Edward, Thomas and Patrick.

After Patrick's death c.1849, Mary Ann married Thomas Rawlings, by whom she had several more children. Upon his death, she married Joseph Mellowdew.

Other names being researched include:
HAWKINS, SCHOFIELD, FEENEY, BOTTOM, MURRAY, MURPHY, REYNOLDS, and several others.

This site will be upgraded regularly as more information becomes available.

I would be pleased to correspond with anyone who has information, or who wants information, about the above surnames.
