Researching Hale, Hamilton, Howard, Mosley, and CalhounIn Floyd, Johnson, Lawrence, Greenup, and Carter Counties in Kentucky.

First, I want to thank those who have been assisting me in my research and family members that have provided certain information that I needed to get started on my tree. It has not been an easy task trying to piece this family together but my desire to discover my roots were a lot stronger than the many disappointments I was faced with. It was November of 1997 when I first began my tree and I have been digging ever since.

The most interesting character that I have been researching is my great great grandmother, Mary Eleanor "Nellie" Hale. She is a complicated woman who obviously had to endure a lot of hardships and humiliation. Her life, her husband(s)(I know of only one record of marriage), and her lovers have caused much speculation regarding the fathers of her children.

I have spent over a year researching the Hamilton/Hale connection. Some are theories that developed over the course of my research. I do know that my great great grandfather is Tandy S. (or L.) Hamilton who had a love affair with Nellie resulting in two births, Tandy and William. The rest of my information surrounding Tandy S. (or L.) Hamilton is speculation and theory. Keep this in mind!

Happy Digging!
