William C Davis McWhorter (b. September 23, 1819, d. date unknown)
William C Davis McWhorter (son of William Mcwhorter and Susanna Sigman) was born September 23, 1819 in GA, and died date unknown. He married Catherine Mangham on July 7, 1842 in Butts County, GA.
Notes for William C Davis McWhorter: Since he was over 40 years old, William C.D. McWhorter was not drafted into the Confederate Army until August 1, 1863. He became a private in the 63rd GA Infantry which saw duty along the coast of Georgia defending Savanah until the spring of 1864 when the unit was sent to North Georgia to help defend Atlanta from Gen. Sherman. On June 27, 1864 during a battle at Kennesaw Mountain he was captured after his unit was over run by a force about six times its size. He was imprisoned at Camp Douglas near Chicago, IL and released at the end of the war in June 1865.
