Scott Slocum

Edit Your Page

Hello, I hope you enjoy my collection of history from the SCOTT, LATTA, RAINE, SLOCUM, CORBETT, HOWE, and related families. My information comes from the British Isles, northern American colonies, and upper-midwestern territories of the U.S. If I can help you, or you can help me, please drop a line. My email address is in the "family photos" section, under "contact information."

Here's an outline of the families I know something about, but would like to know more.

==========================================================
FAMILIES: Raine and Slocum.
LOCATIONS: Sibley IA to Wilmont MN.

--Joseph Raine & his wife Louise Marie Quinche.
----Minnie Raine & her husband Arthur Slocum (b. abt. 1887).
------Harold Slocum & his wife Swannie Ennenga.
------Wayne Slocum & his wife Gene Latta.
------Dale Slocum & his wife Esther Metz.

The family of Arthur Slocum and Minnie Raine (above) seems to have been related to the family of Leroy John Slocum (b. 2/16/1879) and his wife Julia Jeanette Strang (b. 2/16/1878). I haven't found their relationship yet, but the names of their male descendants (Wesley, Arthur, Harold, and Earl) are very similar. It would be great to know how these families were related.

Arthur was one of three brothers (including Carl and Franklin) from Sibley, IA, sons of Wesley Slocum and Mary Bartlet. They had three sisters: Hattie, Laura and Beulah. Franklin's family historians have done very well, but we would all love to know more about the sisters.

Wesley Slocum was the son of Roswell Slocum (b. abt. 1810 in NY) and Mary Cross (b. abt. 1814 in NY). I would love to know more about Roswell and Mary.

Most of what I know of the Raine family comes from William U'Ren, a great family historian.

In addition to the data posted here, I have some personal items and a photo album of the Joseph Raine family, about which I know very little and would like to learn more. I also have a yearbook from Worthington High School (Worthington, MN, about 1932) from a later generation of the Wesley Slocum family.

==========================================================
FAMILIES: Scott, Howe and Corbett.
LOCATIONS: Chautauqua Co. NY, Poynette WI, Stewart MN.

Smith John Scott (b. 3/26/1823) & his wife Marian Corbet.
--Luella Scott & her husband Ambrose Eynon.
--William Scott & his wife Malansa Blanchard.
--Elliot Scott (b. abt. 1854) & his wife Jeanette Howe.
----Oliver Scott & his wife Ruth Anderson.
----Julia Marion Scott & her husband Warren Latta.
----Helen Scott & her husband Samuel Dewey Phillips.
--Helen Scott & her husband James Robinson.
--Stella Scott & her husband Elmer Haight.

This branch of the family has been blessed with a number of family historians, with whom I've been overjoyed to exchange information. It would be great to find a portrait of Elliot and Jeanette (I only have a few snapshots).

==========================================================
FAMILIES: LATTA.
LOCATIONS: Clinton, WI.

--Darius Latta (b. abt. 1860) & his wife Carolyn Hartshorne.
----Warren Latta & his wife Julia Marion Scott.
----Lola Latta & her husband Milford Wilkins.
----Lillian Latta & her husband George Joslin.
----Fay Latta, a bachelor.

In addition to the data posted here, I have several photo albums and scrapbooks of the Warren Latta family that I am happy to send to relatives on CD-R disks.
