Roy lived for a time on Chicken Island, an island in the Columbia River between Hood River and Mosier.

Per The Dalles Weekly Chronicle, Dec. 11, 1908: "Was accidently killed at Mosier - Roy Bailey is dead at his home in Moser as a result of the accidental discharge of a revolver that he was cleaning Monday morning. Fred Evans of Mosier brought the sad news of the unfortunate accident to this city yesterday and told of how Mr. Bailey dropped the gun to the floor, not knowing it contained a cartridge, which exploded. The ball entered the neck under the chin, penetrating the spine. Mrs. Bailey, hearing the explosion ran into the room to find her husband on the floor in a pool of blood and after trying to get him to speak, ran to the nearest neighbors, a mile away, to get assistance. A physician was summoned but on his arrival pronounced that death was almost instantaneous. Mr. Bailey leaves a wife and two children, beside his mother and other relatives. He was a farmer, well known in Mosier Valley and lived two miles from the town of Mosier on the Hood River Road. He was 25 years of age and well respected by all who knew him."[MDSchley Family.ftw]

Camp, 85, a resident of Mosier for the past 62 years will be held at First Christian Church in Mosier at 2pm Saturday with Glyn Adsit officiating. Burial will follow at the Mosier IOOF Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Spencer & Libby. Mr. Camp died at a local hospital Thursday. He was born January 21, 1883 in Toronto, Kansas. For many years before his retirement he was foreman for the Wasco County Road Dept. Mr. Camp was a member of the Beacon Lodge 182, IOOF at Mosier and the Modern Woodmen of America. Surviving are . . . (see obit of Ethel Anna Bailey)." He was a member of the School Board for many years and a member of the Odd Fellows. At 71 he was ruddy with much grey hair, of medium weight and height. He and his wife were excellent gardeners.[MDSchley Family.ftw]
