The Abbott Metcalf Smith Family Home Page

I have been working on the Smith family geneology dating back to Yorkshire, England abt 1540. This branch of the family includes our first ancestor John Smith of the Plymouth Colony, who was born in 1618 and died in 1692. John Smith lived in the Dartmouth area of Mass. I have been fortunate to find some very old family archives that give extensive, but of course not complete, records from the early years of the family in New England and have been able to link this through more than 13 generations. There are a myriad of family names in the geneology from Myles Standish and John Alden, through my paternal grandmother who is an Anthony. We have traced her family back to Cologne, Germany in the 1500's. Most of the work has been to broaden the base of "the tree" in the 1600 and 1700's and that has been primarily the New England based part of the family.
