4. BENJAMIN2 CARPENTER (THOMAS1) was born March 01, 1755 in Amherst Co Virginia, and died January 12, 1840 in Knox Co. Illinois. He married SARAH in Amherst Co Virginia. She died Unknown.

ENJAMIN CARPENTER:
Revolutionary soldier from Virginia. Born on the Rockfish River in Amherst
Co. Va and died Knox Co Ill. He bought 140 acres on Short's Creek in Amherst
Co in 1779. He witnessed a deed for land on Rockfish River in 1779 and in 1780.
He signed the Petition of Dissenters in Amherst Co. on 22 Oct 1776. He served
in Colonel David Mason's regiment of Amherst Co. militia in 1777 1778 and in
Colonel Thomas Meriwether's regiment of militia in 1781. He received a pension
for his military service. On 25 Feb 1782 he and wife Sarah sold his half of
the 140 acres . He was still in Amherst in 1783 and 1785 . A Benjaman Carpenter settled in Wayne Co. Ky in 1786 where Carpenter's Fork of Otter Creek
are named after him. Benj Carpenter moved to east TN in 1793, Knox Co and
then on to West Tenn (Overton Co). He is on the census records in 1800,10,20
in Overton Co. Tenn. He then moved to Schuyler Co Illinois where he applied
for pension for revolutionary service. One of the Testators was James W.
Riley who was Thomas Carpenter's grand son in law. He might well be the son o Thomas Carpenter of Amherst and also brother to John of Cumberland Co Ky. He died at his son in law home in Knox Co. Illinois- Enos Campbell.

Benjamin Carpenter lived with son in law Enos Campbell in Illinois and the
revolutionary pension was paid to his at this address. Enos was adm of estate.



5. WILLIAM2 CARPENTER (THOMAS1) was born March 19, 1761 in on Rockfish river,Amherst Co, Va, and died September 14, 1835 in Adiar co Kentucky. He married MARY STRICKLING(STRICKLEN) January 09, 1789 in Rockbridge, Augusta Co, Virginia. She died Unknown.

ILLIAM CARPENTER:
William applied for Revolutinary War pension and was granted o ne R 1714 and after his death his wife applied for widow benefits but was denied because she could not get marriage records. He was in Wayne Co Ky in 1832 and was age 71-72 and gave long disposition about his service which can be found in the national archives in Washington, DC . Moved first from Amherst Va to Knox co Tenn and then to Wayne Co Ky and then to Adair just a few months before he died. List of childre was given also

Moved to Knox Co Tenn by 1800, Lived in Blount, Franklin, Coffeee Co , Tenn then to Anderson co Texas 1845. He died in Arkansas while on a visit there probably to brothers abt 1850. Had 5 sons and 3 daughters.
