Notes for SAMUEL LLEWELLYN:
When Samuel emigrated to America (prior to 1770), he settled in the western part of VA in what became the county of Monongalia. Later, this area became part of WV. (Along the waters of the Cheat River)

Samuel operated the first river ferry west of the Alleghenies in Monongalia Co. WV before the Revolutionary War. He and his wife, Hannah, were the key founders in starting the Forks-of Cheat baptist church in Stewartstown, WV in the year 1774. This was the first baptist church in the region.

Notes for HANNAH ? (JONES):
Hannah was a widow by her previous husband, last name Jones. Do not know Hannah's maiden name. Hannah had a son, Jacob Jones, which creates confusion with Samuel's son, Jacob Lewellen.
