Edward R A Schoonover (son of Rhodolphus Schoonover and Myra Harden)929 was born Dec 1840 in Washington Co., Indiana929, and died 15 Aug 1906 in Floyd, Indiana930.He married (1) Sarah Ann Sackett on 04 Apr 1861 in Indiana, daughter of Charles Sackett and Jane Gresham.He married (2) Mildred J. Self on Abt. 1887 in Indiana, daughter of Self and Nancy E. Sanders.

Edward is believed to have married twice. His first marriage was to Sarah A Sackett in 1861. She died between 1880 and 1890. Although I have not been able to find a death notice, the only proof is from a biography of Charles Sackett ( her father ) It was written in 1890 and is attached to his record. Although Sarah shows up in all census records prior to 1890, she is not listed as one f the 13 children of Charles that was surviving at the time the biography was written.
The 1900 census shows Edward married to MildredJ. with one daughter ( Mary E.)The census also says that Edward's father was born in Pennsylvania and his mother in North Carolina which coincides with the birth statements made by Rodolphus and Mary Schoonover in prior census records and they did have a son named Edward R A who had the same birth year as the Edward R A who later married Mildred J Self and fathered Mary Elizabeth. The only discrepancy is in the place of birth which shows up sometime as Walpack, N.J. and sometimes as Pennsylvania ( most likely Pike CO. ) . As noted by other researchers, this area of the country was very rural at the time and these two places shared a common mountainous border. It is believed that persons borned in that are at that time often cited either location as their birth location. Because a date and exact location is assigned to the New Jersry entry, it may be more accurate.
The marriage licens of Mary E and Edward Ivan states that Mary's father was deceased at the time of her marriage and that he was born in Salem, Washington CO. Indiana. Her mother was listed as living.
The coincidences keep mounting and point to the likely conclusion that Edward R.A. Schoonover had married twice.
