5. VIOLET H.³ PRIMROSE (JOHN², ARCHIBALD¹) was born Abt. 1710 in Queen Anne's Co., MD. He married (1) MARGARET WOODWARD December 28, 1737 in Church Hill, Queen Annes Co., MD. She was born Abt. 1715. He married (2) SARAH HART January 28, 1746/47 in Church Hill, Queen Annes Co., MD. She was born Abt. 1720.

Some records in Queen Anne's County show the name spelled "Vilolate."
The land records of Queen Anne's County show the following
transaction for November 1747: William Dames of Chester Town,
Merchant, to Thomas Marsh, Gentleman - consideration 25 current -
50 acres, part of "Popular Hill," lying on the east side of a swamp
lying between the main road to Kings Town and a plantation (part of
"Popular Hill") in the possession of Violet Primrose. This indicates
that in 1747 Violet Primrose was in possession of a plantation of
property to the West of what is now Route 213, between Church Hill and
Kingstown.
Page 18 of [IT:Chesapeake Cousins:IT] (USGS Vol 28, No. 2) presents
some details of the life of William Winchester, born about 1726. It
mentions that in his late teens (about 1740-45) he was working in
Kingstown with George and Violet Primrose, across the Chester River
from Chestertown. Kingstown was established as an 18th century
developed community on land taken from [IT:Poplar Hill:IT], a farm
owned by the Primrose family. More than 20 lots were laid out and sold
to investors. Henry Cully owned five lots and Thomas Marsh IV owned
three.
On February 25, 1752, Violet Primrose sold 100 acres of land called
[IT:Poplar Hill:IT] on the south side of the Chester River for an
amount of 5,500 pounds of tobacco. (Deed Book D, page 71)
