"There may have been other children not recorded. On January 13, 1760, in Groton Records Vol. 6, p. 202, Samuel Whipple makes a grant of land to his son Samuel, mentions son Timothy and says Joseph is dead. He also speaks of wife Zipporah Whipple and says "she doth resign up all her right of dower and power of thirds to premises" which she did January 16, 1760, in the presence of Noah Whipple and Humphrey Avery" (as recorded in "The Antecedents and Descendants of Noah Whipple of the Rogerene Community at Quakertown, Connecticut" by Clara Hammond McGuigan (add'l sects. by Robert W. Merriam), p.37)).

"Samuel Whipple, Jr. removed to Connecticut in 1707. In that year, he made a purchase of land in Poquetannuck, CT. The deed is recorded in Groton, CT Town records. He was an enterprising business man. He had iron works and a saw mill there. The product of his iron works was said to be of a superior quality and anchors and iron portions of whaling ships that sailed out of New London were made at his works. See "The Rogerenes" by Anna B. Williams Page 299. Both of Samuel Whipple's grandfathers, namely John Whipple and Thomas Harris, were non-conformists, and had removed to Rhode Island to escape persecution in Massachusetts."
