Find Family

I have spent the last year or so compiling a database of all Truax / du Trieux family members, who are the descendants of Philippe du Trieux of Robaix, France. My paternal grandmother, Gladys Truax, was a descendant of Jacob Truax of Schenectady, whose sons founded the main Canadian branch of the family.
Please visit my personal genealogy page for more details on my Truax ancestors, as well as my other lines including JAQUES, HOLDING, THOMPSON, MEARS and others.

My personal genealogy page only has room for my own direct ancestors, but I felt it might be useful to make my complete database available to those who are searching for their own Truax ancestors. The information here is compiled from three main sources:

~ the 'House of Truax' genealogies, written by Theodore de T. Truax and published in the 1920s by the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society

~ the Thura Truax Hires Manuscripts, Vols. 1 and 2, published by the Association of Philippe du Trieux Descendants

~ lineages submitted via the internet

Because most of this information is from second or third hand sources (and because much of the data entry was done at 2 or 3 in the morning), there WILL BE ERRORS. Please don't take any of it as gospel - rather, use this information as a starting point for your own research.

This database currently includes more than 5,000 individuals and is still incomplete. If anyone would care to contribute their own family lines, or would like more information about their Truax ancestors, please contact me at runesmith@ica.net.
