He married (2) JEMIMA PEYTON5,6 October 22, 1793 in Lincoln Co., KY6, daughter of PHILIP PEYTON and WINIFRED BUSSELL. She was born WFT Est. 1753-17787,8, and died December 18329,10.

The WEST family dates back to the Revolutionary war days. They were Scots/Irish descendants of the McDONALD CLAN . At the age of 70 Peyton married his second wife, Miss RIGSBY. They had a daughter, LAURA WEST, who married HENRY C. LONG.

The marriage of Payton West to Crecia E Rigsby performed on 17 Oct 1865 by Wilson F. Fields, J.P. Certified under the hand of Wilson F. Field, J.P. on November 6, 1865. Filed for record on the 6 day of November 1865. [ Signed by Henry Davis, Recorder page 324, Monroe Co, Mo). Member of the Fork of Dix River Baptist Church, Garrard CO, KY. Excluded 1852. At a church meeting held on the 3rd Saturday in July 1850, a motion was made and seconded that Br. Peyton West, chosen as Sexton (a church officer or employee who takes care of the church property and sometimes rings the bell and digs graves).

Last will and testament dated 29 Dec 1820, filed in Garrad Co., KY. Exhibited in court at the February 1821 session. Will Provision: 100 acres to be rented out until Richard West reaches age 25; rent profits to be used for the education of Joseph, Richard and Wesley; A horse worth $45.00 and a bed each for sons Joseph and Wesley; the tract of land known as the: "ROBINSON PLACE" and two women slaves, MILLIE and JUDAH shall be sold together with the farm; Grandchildren, Madison and Nancy (children of John West) to receive $200.00 each, to be held in trust by son Benoni, until they reach age 21; The proceeds of the sale of the Robison Place to be shared equally by children; Benoni, Charles, Payton, Susana, Joseph, Wesley and Richard.

Aunt Clare Belle understood that the West brothers (more than one) came to the US from England during the French and Indian War in the late 1750's or early 1760's.
