Donald West gives Benoni West's birth as Feb 27, 1788. However, the marriage date for Joseph West and Jemima (Gemima) Peyton is given as 1793, four years after 1788. It could be that Benoni was from a previous marriage or adopted. This needs to be researched. I have moved his birth to 1795 for convenience.

The name Benoni appears twice in Donald's file. I have also found a reference to a Bennony(4) West(b. Jan 1708) Anthony(3),John(2),Anthony(1), a great-grandson of Anthony West, in a Virginia Genealogy text. It comes from a published family history of the "Anthony West and His Family (1649-1718)." It was found on the family Tree Maker, Genealogies of Virginia Familyies V, R-Z, Anthony West and His Family (1649-1718) of Northhampton co., Virginia. This may indicate that Bennony was a common given name in the West family and that it continued down the line to us albeit with the spelling change. This Bennony West would be about two or three generations removed from the Benoni West of our line (1708 to 1788).\\
Bennony West married Sarah Snead but this account gives no listing of his offsprings. Bennony's brother John(the younger) West married Frances Yeardley
