Ship built by Compagnie Generale Transatlantique, St. Nazaire, France, 1899. 11146 gross tons; 580 (bp) feet long; 60 feet wide. Steam triple expansion engines, twin screw. Service speed 21 knots. 1114 passengers ( 446 first class, 116 second class, 552 third class ). Built for French Line, French flag, in 1899 and named La Lorraine. Le Havre-New York service. Served as an armed merchant cruiser during World War I as LORRAINE II. Resumed Le Harve-New York service in 1919. Scrapped in 1923.
