| The Smith family has a long history in the Yarmouth and Shelburne area of Nova Scotia. Having the name Smith does complicate genealogical research, but fortunately families appear to have stayed in this one area for many generations. My Smith's descend from Smythe in England. I've only posted some of the Smith information, please contact me if your relatives have come from the Shelburne area of Nova Scotia. Other surnames of interest are: Gray/MaGray/McGray/MacGray, Churchill, DeVillier. The Fehlhaber/Felhaber family originally came from Pommerania (now Poland). They followed the German migration to North America and eventually settled in the Killaloe area of Renfrew County. Other surnames of research are Ristau, Verch, Zummach/Summach, Gienow; who came from Pommerania and other areas of the Germanic states |
