In the their early marriage, William and Elizabeth Enick Prines lived in the town of Scott Haven, a small mining community in Southwestern Pennsylvania. They then moved to Penn Station, Pennsylvania, where William, Sr. worked in the Penn Foundry doing mold work. Hw was a very friendly man, liked by all who met him, and enjoyed his beer like all the old miners did.

William was also a very good wood worker, carpenter, and farmer. He and Elizabeth moved to Burrell Hollow, in Penn Township, a rural suburb of Penn, Pennsylvania. They had a small farm, from which they sold produce, eggs, milk, cheese, etc. William supplemented the farm income by selling ice cream from a horse-drawn wagon every day, often accompanied by one of their small children.
