He was the son of John W. Midkiff and Mary Polly Turley. He married Louisa Nichols. They had at least nine children and one of them was my 2nd great-grandmother Virginia Ellen Midkiff who married Charles William Martin and her husband was also a union solider, they are all buried at the same Cemetery there in Alum Creek WV.
