Find Family

* Trudy's Roots II*

Updated September 5, 2000

My family, as most others did, emigrated from Europe passing through eastern Pennsylvania. Some of the names I have been researching are: Smith, Fertig, Goodhart (Guthart), Ponitus (Pontious, Punches, Pontus), Siggins (Seguin), Rupp, Morr (Moore) with other associated names and families. I am trying to get actual documentation to prove relationships that other people have given me
I have used two previously printed and published family genealogies as a base for my research. One printed in 1896 documenting my maternal grandmother (Morr), the other printed in 1912 which documents my paternal great-grandmother's family (Siggins). The later has a passage in it which states that my great-great-grandfather, U S Grant, Bishop Matthew Simpson (who was President Lincoln's spiritual advisor and presided over his funeral),and Jefferson Davis President of the Confederacy were all 3rd cousins. This I have yet to prove but can see how they may have been linked.

Genealogy is my hobby now, but I hope someday to be able to persue it full time.
