Mike,

I am looking at some notes I have in my Slaymaker notebook.
The will of Lawrence Slaymaker of "Strasbourg" Twp, dtd 15 Mar
1747/8 and proved 25 Mar 1748, names his wife Eve and Child Barbara Slaymaker. Executors named were his father Mathias Slaymaker and John Jeckman. Will Book A-1, 174:1748.

Pennsylvania Vital Records Book I Page 333
Mathias Slaymaker of Strasbourg Township is appointed Guardian
over Barbara, Daughter of his Son Lawrence Slaymaker. (I don't have a date on this)

History of the Slaymaker Family by Groff-Slaymaker, pg 83
A notation of his (Lawrence) marriage was found in the records of the New Holland Lutheran Church. It was translated from the German by the late Mr & Mrs M. Luther Heisey of Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
"Trinity Lutheran Church of New Holland October 16, 1744
Lorentz Schleyermacher married Eva Elizabeth Eckman
Hieronamus Eckman married Anna Barbara Schleyermacher"
There is no reference to relationships, but it is known that these Slaymakers were brother and sister.

It looks like after Lawrence died, his widow married Jacob Foutz.

Pg 93 Slaymaker History Mathias filed a petition to the court on Dec 4, 1752 stating that he put the said Barbara in the care of her mother and step-father, one Jacob Foutz, on one condition, that they would "behave in a kind and tender way and manner", but that at times, "they used her very ill, especially Foutz, which said Barbara frequently complained to her Grandfather." So Mathias asked the court to order that Barbara be taken from them and put under his care, offering to raise and educate her without any charge. pg 84 Court records remain silent on the outcome of the petition. In any case, it is known that Barbara did grow up, married and bore twelve children.
Barbara married George Lefever, the son of the famous rifle maker, Philip Lefever and his grandfather was Isaac Lefever married to Catherine Feree, daughter of Madam Feree.

The book then procedes to list the descendents over the next 37 pages.

I hope this is helpful. You especially need Part II of this Slaymaker book regarding Lawrence.

Good Luck
Joyce
