DATE OF DEATH MAY BE AUGUST 10, 1873
While he was a lad,his parents emigrated to Cynthiana,KY,leaving James with a Mr. Henderson. It is not known when he followed his parents but it was sometime during the War of 1812. Shortly after rejoining his parents,he volunteered in the Army during the War of 1812 in a company commanded by Capt. Wm. Brown and a regt. under Col. Pogue and remained there until the troop was ordered home. He then resumed his trade as a stone mason in Cynthiana. From Cynthiana he moved to Colemansville,in Harrison County,KY and giving up his trade on account of failing health, embarked in keeping a hotel, in which pursuit he remained until 1851, when he moved to Charleston,IL. James A. Chambers was a Colonel in the War of 1812 Funeral was from the Methodist church, Charleston,IL. Service by J.R.Eads of Paris. Buried in Charleston Old Cemetery,Charleston,IL

Served as 2nd Sgt. in Capt.William Brown's Company of KY Militia from 27 Aug 1812 to 12 March 1813 #3008
His wife's brother's child Robert Rankin, son of Simeon Rankin, was apprenticed to him in February of 1817.

James died in childhood ,being one year and 11 months old.While playing with a number of children he came across a vial of Laudanum of which he swallowed enough to produce death.Both parents were absent from home at the time and on returning found him asleep and could not wake him.(Gen of Family of James Chambers by W.N.Chambers 1887)

Margaret Jane died Aug.30,1849,wanting a few weeks of being 30 yrs. old.She was a brave and industrious woman,full of kindness,was very popular,loved her kin,was a splendid housekeeper,and was in ernest in everything she engaged in.On horseback she was the most graceful rider I ever saw and managed a refractory horse with the utmost skill. she was taller than any of her sisters with a symetrical form.
