DebbieSnelling 3117 NE Newcastle Place Corvallis,Oregon 97330 | I am researching my ancestors from the Wisconsin and Minnisota. My Minnisota branch came from Germany and Switzerland and migrated to Brainerd, then Becker County. This was Mathias Vogel (aka Vogeli) and Wilhelmina Rickmann, daughter of Fred and Ilsa. Mathias may have had a brother, Jacob, who died in the Brainerd area. Another branch migrated from New York and Vermont to Wisconsin. Julian Freeman (son of Francis Freeman and Eliza) settled in Waushara County about 1857, and married Elsie Forbes of Waupaca County. Later, they moved to Oshkosh, where their daughter, Rena Belle, married Alton Perse (aka Percy), son of Joseph Percy and C. Manuel (spelling?). Belle's oldest son was Earl Perse. Related surnames include McCauley, Kreutzer and Mantz. My German branch all came from Prussia (many from Danzig area, small towns)to the area around Borth, Wi. (Waushara and Winnebago Counties). Some came via Chicago. The surnames for this group include: Frederick Haase,Johanna Waack,Fred Haase, Henry Hertzberg, Dorathea Kamin, Gus Hertzberg,Gustuv Schonscheck, Wilhelmina Bolt, Augusta Schonscheck, Herman Schmude, Charlotte Papke, and Caroline Schmude.Related surnames include: Reetz, Rates, Henning, Lee, Hendrich, Bohn, Conrad, Puffer, Carpenter, Langfield, Wilke, Pigorsch, Smoody and several more. Names from the other tree I research include George R.A.K. Snelling, Robert Snelling, Clara Valentine, Levi Valentine,Louie Belle Hoffman, Samuel F. Hoffman, Joab Polhemus, Ida Polhemus and Elmina Scoville. These people lived in Michigan at one time or another.George Snelling immigrated from England. |
