We are carrying on the research began by our late aunt Jerrie Louise Davis on the Texas branch of the Snead's. Based on the information she had from years ago and using the wonderful internet resources available now, we have compiled the following information, etc. on our Snead heritage.

So far we have found that our ancesters fought in the American Revolution, The Spanish-American War and the Civil War to name a few. My great great grandfather John Carroll Snead is the only one I have a picture of and it is included here as well.

If you have any information that might be helpful we would appreciate your contacting us.

  • John Carroll Snead (73 KB)
John Carroll fought in the civil war and then became a sheriff of Hill County, Texas in 1867. He was later killed in the line of duty by a horse thief named Alex Bell. To this day he is the only sheriff of Hill County to have been killed in the line of duty.
