I am researching the Sneed family of Kentucky,Virgina and Indiana.The Sneed's lived in Pulaski County Kentucky during the early 1800's till early 1900's. My GGGGrandfather John S. Sneed fought in the Civil War with Kentucky Volunteers. I am looking for His father James Sneed and his father Charles Sneed. I have found James in the 1850,1860 and 1870 census records but haven't been able to positivly verify which Charles was his father. I believe James had a brother named John who married Martha Beasly in 1843 and one named William. Locating Charles will help me get out of Kentucky and back into Virginia where Charles was born according to census records. James was married to Matilda Jarvis in 3/17/1840. There was a Charles Sneed living with James in the 1860 Pulaski County Census who was 99 years old. Could this be his grandfather or father??Understanding how all the Sneed's in Pulaski County and the surrounding counties are related, will help me find Charles.

Family affiliations in Pulaski County Kentucky include, Troxall, Jarvis, Bohannon, Beasly, possibly Dolton. Warren County KY includes Smith and Pace.

John S. Sneed married Julia Ann Troxtal in 1865 after the war. They had at least 9 children before Julia died in 1885. John moved to Edmondson County KY and married Grace T. Pace in 1887.Their oldest son Claude is my Great Grandfather. He moved up to Indianapolis Indiana in the early 1900's where I live today.
