Since 1994, I have served as the editor of THE MACE, a genealogy publication for the Snodgrass Clan Society. This journal is issued in July each year and contains ancestor charts, family group sheets, wills, deeds, obituaries, personal stories and other items submitted by our members. Sharing information is the purpose of the Snodgrass Clan Society.
In addition, we publish annually a Family Name Registry, which lists our active members and the names of individuals each is researching. The registry enables our members to contact each other directly to share data about mutual ancestors.
The Snodgrass Clan Society is a hobby group and is not-for-profit. The membership dues for 2009 at $10. covers the cost of the journal and the family registry, including mailing.
In addition to serving as editor of our publications, I am the keeper of extensive Snodgrass archives, including census records, deeds, wills, applications for Revolutionary War and Civil War pensions, and other genealogical material. Whenever I can, I am glad to review the archives to find data that will assist anyone researching a Snodgrass or descendant.
Over the past 60+ years, many researchers have contributed to our archives and we appreciate the work they have done so that we may share it with others. Especially, we are grateful for the research work of the former editor of our publications Charlou Dolan, whose knowledge and thoroughness in research have resulted in organizing much of the resources we have available today.
If you have been surfing the Internet looking for family history, you may have met Suzie Schoolcraft Snodgrass (E-mail suziewv2@yahoo.com). Suzie is a very active member of our group and encourages any Snodgrass or descendant to join us for the good of all. She is particularly adept at using the Internet, and computers in general, and you will surely want to meet her to share your Snodgrass data.
We welcome new participants in our group.
If you would like to join us, please send an e-mail to me at paulsnodgrass@verizon.net and I will forward a 'member-information form', which you can complete with the names of early Snodgrasses you are researching.
