2. JUDGE GEORGE ALEXANDER² SNOWDEN (AARON¹)⁸ was born February 25, 1800 in Georgia ^9,¹⁰, and died August 19, 1877 in Covington County, AL. He married (1) UNKNOWN KENNEDY¹¹. She died Unknown. He married (2) THIRSE ANN M. STOKES Abt. 1845 in Falco, Florida ¹². She was born January 30, 1818 in South Carolina ^13,^14,¹⁵, and died February 17, 1904 in Andalusia, AL.

"George Alexander Snowden, son of George Aaron Snowden and Esther Webster....George A. Snowden moved into Charleston when about twelve years old and live there until 18. Born in South Carolina, probably at Dartnigh (?). Came with his father to Ft. Claiborne (Alabama) -his father remained at Claiborne and George Alexander went to Pollard. ((Near Pollard on the Escambia)). Came on to the country where the McDavids and Barrows lived. ((Brewton?))"

For a time he was in business at Claiborne--bought,sold and shipped cotton on the river. Went where his father was and was a mill wright there. Married ______________ Kennedy, daughter of a wealthy man in the Pensacola country somewhere.

George Alexander lived to be an old man, farmed on his place for about five years. He was married some seven or eight years before a child was born. When the child was born his parents brought him a negro girl for a nurse ((this was the Pollard section)). ((Callie said paid $1,000 for one slave))."

"The Kennedy home was up the river between Pollard and Ferry Pass. (George A. Snowden's) first wife is buried there. (This seems to be a contradiction.) His parents lived in home with him. His first wife dropped dead. He and a negro came up the river to where his parents lived. He was building a house down near the Ferry. He married when about eighteen. He and his wife both married without their parents' consent. (Kennedy kin didn't like marriage to Snowden ((Callie))."
