| Hello and thanks for visting my home page!! I am searching for the following surnames: Sommerfeld The Sommerfeld family first appears in my research in Tragheim, West Prussia. George Sommerfeld and Justine Rhode and their three children (Maria Elizabeth Sommerfeld (born 1862), Johann George Sommerfeld (born 1864), and Peter August Sommerfeld (born 1867) emigrate to Neu-Osterwickin Russia where he marries Helena Wilms and raises a family. In 1912 this family emigrates to southern Saskatchewan. Marquard The Marquard family first appears in my research in Einlage, South Russia with Johan Martin Marquard (born 1878 in Russia) married to Florentine Marquardt (born 1872 in Prussia). They raise a family and emigrate to southern Saskatchewan in 1912. Johann is the son of Heinrich Marquard and Elizabeth Wedhorn. Florentine is the daughter of Anton Marquardt and Elizabeth Dyck. Friesen The Friesen family line begins with Isabrand Friesen (von Riesen) born around 1740 and married to Agatha Dyck. This line emigrated to southern Manitoba, Canada around 1874. Letkeman The Letkeman family begins with Peter Letkeman (born 1756 in Prussia) and married to Sara Goosen. This Mennonite family was part of the Molotschna colony. Their decendents emigrated to southern Saskatchewan around 1921. The common link is the eventual emigration to Russia of all of these families followed by the emigration of their children to Canada. If you see a name that rings a bell please contact me. With luck we'll be able to support each other in our research.
