These pages contain the Manon/Thrasher(Thresher) ancestors who made me what I am today. Included surnames are: Manon, Thrasher, Thresher, Southwick, Prescott, Blaine and many more. The branch of these families I am from settled in Ohio around Defiance, Oakwood, Bryan, and Edgerton. I have miles of research to do yet. I have obtained my information from many sources either in books or from other researchers' listings online. If anyone finds an error in the families listed, please email me the correct information to be researched. My deepest gratitude goes to Diane Carr Ellison, an invaluable source for the Thrasher history, without whom I would still be plodding along, and Dan Beauprez, who made the Manon family tree bloom and grow before my eyes. The one from IrishNation says Manon is a derivative of O'Mannion, Manning, etc. The first says we hail from Maddox, Maddock, etc. I believe the new one is more accurate. Without a lot of money to have a very thorough history done, we have to rely on faith and Burke's General Armory, the source for the IrishNation version, is a trusted source. Elizabeth Thrasher Slaybaugh (32 KB) 1838 - 1897 Thrasher Coat of Arms (45 KB) I put this together, but added the mantling (decorative items surrounding shield) I wanted to see with it since I don't know what they should be. I do know the coat of arms is a silver background with three dragon heads and a red chevron. Daniel and Provided Southwick (603 KB) The attempted sale into slavery of the children of Lawrence and Cassandra Southwick by Gov. Endicott and his minions for being Quakers. Charles Van Houten Thrasher (32 KB) Amanda's Father - a teacher in Oakwood, Ohio Why Sit'st Thou Here Cassandra? (70 KB) Print from John Greenleaf Whittier's poem about Cassandra Southwick (this would really have been Provided, but her name wasn't poetic enough). Cassandra was in her 70's when imprisoned. David and Sarah Rose Young Thrasher (11 KB) Long, long ago. Another of David's Daughters (?) (9 KB) Sure wish we knew for if this is one of David's girls and thus a granddaughter to Elisha. If so, she is Elisha's granddaughter. David and Phoebe Thrasher's House (15 KB) This is just a portion of the whole. David's Daughter (?) (3 KB) We think this is another daughter to Elisha's son, David.
