Notes for Betty Mysie Ackerman: Born at 17 Lewis Cottages, Lewis Road, Mitcham. The spelling of Mysie is particular to Philpott side of the family. However on her Marriage Certificate the spelling changed to Maisie. The reason for this, the Vicar was unaware of the correct spelling.
Mum attended ss Peter & Paul Mitcham Infant Sunday School, this fact is bourne out by a Birthday Card for a Three year old from B. Hanington who was the Superintendent and is dated 2nd October 1926 at the School.
As a young girl she helped her Mother sowing and making lamp shades at home. Her mother Edith was a home worker who through experience was allowed to work at home. When Mum left school in 1937 she worked for a company called Wates, located in Weston Road, Mitcham. She started a an apprentice lamp maker, learning how to design, and make lamp shades for weathly customers including Royalty. When war broke out in 1939 she was 16 and this type of work ceased and the company went into production makeing Fuse Shell caps. (A fuse refers to a device used in munitions which is designed to detonate, or to set forces into action to ignite, detonate or deflagrate, the charge (or primer) under specified conditions. In contrast to a simple pyrotechnic fuse, a munitions fuze always has some form of safety/arming mechanism, designed to protect the user from premature or accidental detonation). She soon moved on to another Company in Weston Road called DHP also making shell caps. This was the Company where my Father also worked and this is where they met.
In the late 50's early 60's Worked for a company called Shergolds they were a local company which were a small Grocer's and the Family had a number of local shops in South London. Mum worked at one in Quicks Road South Wimbledon and Stonecot Hill ( now a Bank). (The manager was a Sid Farr and they lived in Clapham Common)
Then in the Seventies worked for Merton Council in Eastfield High School as a cleaner, until she retired.

Marriage Notes for Betty Mysie Ackerman and James Melton Sone: At the time of the marriage to James Melton Sone no one noticed that the spelling of her middle name had changed from Mysie to Masie. The witness's were Florence Rosina Sone, James Sone's mother and her sister's Dorothy's husband, Frank Plamer.
The reception was held at Johnson's Restaurant in the Broadway, Wimbledon, this fact is confirmed by Three Telegram's.
