* Rabinowitz and Rotenberg and Herschman, Labofsky and Fogel's*

Updated February 16, 2002

I am searching for relatives of Bertha (Blume) Rabinowitz of Russia (Lithiuanian area)who married John Fogel from Galatz, Rumania, probably in London in about 1905. They lived for a short time in Wales and immigrated to New York in 1908 with their daughter, age 3 and son, 9 months and John's brother, Israel, and his wife and daughter. They moved very shortly thereafter to Minneapolis, MN.

Bertha had two brothers, Berel Rabinowitz and Samuel Rotenberg both of whom stayed in NY. Berel had one son and three daughters and Samuel had two daughters and two sons. These children would have been born in the early 1900's. Bertha, Berel and Samuel probably were born in the late 1880's. One of Berel's daughter's, Sonya, drowned at Coney Island at age 18 in about 1925. Their father, possibly a rabbi, immigrated after WW1, in about 1920 or 1921 and lived with Samuel in NY.

Samuel had a glass pane shop on the lower eastside of NY.

Does this sound like it could be your family? If so, I look forward to hearing from you.
