William William Sorensen
Born to William and Carolyn Sorensen on May 6, 1886 in Boston, Massachusetts, where he attended school until the age of fourteen.He joined the crew of a sailing ship going to South America, and sailed up the Amazon River as far as navigable at that time.After working six years on various ships, he settled in New York.He obtained his stationary engineer's license, and worked on the construction of the Flat Iron Building in New York City.
In the year 1908 he married Stella Eleanor Skelton who was born in Bayonne, New Jersey on February 14, 1891.
During World War I William W. Sorensen was the dock master for Standard Ship Building Company on Shooters Island, Staten Island, New York.Toward the end of the war he went into the marine salvage business in partnership with his step brother Francis. He was in the salvage business until his death in1947.Stella Sorensen died thirty-eight years later, on March 27, 1986 aged 94 years
