* Rev. David Allee of Moniteau & Cooper Counties, Missouri*

Updated December 28, 2000

I am researching the Rev. David ALLEE (1762-1835) family that came to Cooper County, Missouri around 1820. He established a school and was a founder of several Baptist churches in the central Missouri area.

From Ginger Rae Allee--David Allee's Children--David Allee, born in 1762 at Pittsylvania County, VA, the son of Nicholas Allee and Ann Stephens, was a Revolutionary War Soldier.

After David married Charity Bybee, he obtained 200 acres of land in Barren County, KY, from the state of Virginia for payment of his services on the Virginia Continental Line in the Revolutionary War. In addition to farming, David was ordained as a Baptist minister at the Glover Creek Church at Summer Shade, Barren County, KY, where he preached from 1803-1820. As a Baptist preacher, he organized schools and churches on the colonial western frontier.

In 1822 David moved ten of his eleven children to MO where he lived the remainder of his life.

On the following pages are references to the life of David Allee as he lived and left his impressions in the records for posterity. These records are a collection from the family, both written and oral, deeds to his properties, both the inheritances of himself and his wife, surity bonds for the marriages of his children, records of certification of marriages as a minister, his will, his stock mark, his land surveys, his tax records and his will.

From Allee Family Book--David Allee was a Revolutionary War Veteran. Was ordained a minister in 1806 at Glover Creek Baptist Church in Barren County, KY. This church is no longer in existence. He came to Missouri in 1820.

From my research--Joined the Pisgah Baptist church in southeast Cooper County, MO in November 1820. Was first moderator of Mount Gilead Baptist Church (now First Baptist Church) in California, MO in August 1833.

From E.M. Richards, 804 Ruth Ann Dr., Sedalia, MO 65301

Lived in Henrico, Henry, Cumberland, Pittsylvania, Botetourt & Franklin Counties of Virginia. Moved to Barren County, KY in 1795 and Cooper County, MO in 1820.

Was a farmer, Baptist minister and school teacher
