       He and his wife moved from Marshall County, Tennessee to Lawrence County, Tennessee sometime between 1860 and 1870. They lived there the remainder of their lives. He was a Confederate soldier in the Civil War (Private, A Company, 118th Tennessee Cavalry. He joined on January 12, 1861, and served for three months and twelve days. He was shot through the thigh. He married in Missouri and was in Liberty County, Texas in the 1870 census. He was a private in Company F, 2nd Infantry Battalion, Waul's Texas Legion in the Civil War. He was enrolled in Liberty, Texas by Capt. J. Wrigley. He was captured on July 4, 1863 in Vicksburg, Mississippi and paroled on July 9, 1863 in Vicksburg. He was a farmer, and lived in Fayette County, Texas, moving to Liberty
County, Texas in the early 1860s. He was a boarder with Henry Arline in the 1900 census for Liberty Co.,

13. Lewis T.³ Berryhill (Linsfield "Lin"², Alexander¹)⁸⁹ was born 1840 in Franklin County, Tennessee⁹⁰, and died December 27, 1914 in Elora, Lincoln County, Tennessee⁹¹. He married Sarah Mahaffey⁹² February 27, 1863 in Franklin County, Tennessee⁹³.

Notes for Lewis T. Berryhill:
The census for 1900 (Marshall County) gives his date of birth as February, 1842. He stated in his application for a Civil War pension that he was born in February, 1843.
He died in the Elora community of Lincoln County, TN, according to the Civil War Widow's Pension application filed by Sarah Mehaffee Berryhill, his widow.
He served in the Civil War with Company B, 23rd Tennessee Infantry, Confederate States of America. He enlisted on July 7, 1861, and was sworn in at Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. He fought at the Battle of Murfreesboro, where he was shot through his hand and wrist. He was also "affected by the concussion of a shell at Shiloh." He indicated in his pension application that he had his "skull broken." He surrendered with Robert E. Lee at Appomattox Court House, Virginia in 1865.
In the 1870 census he is married with two children, living in Marshall County, Tennessee, "working in rock". They are next door to his brother, Francis Marion Berryhill. In 1880 he and his family are living in Fayetteville, Lincoln County, Tennessee. He is living in Marshall County in 1900, according to the census.
In his application for a Civil War pension, made in September of 1903, he stated that he was residing in Argyle, Lincoln County, Tennessee.
