Malcolm MacNeill & Elizabeth Campbell, daughter of the 5th Duke of Argyll, Scotland, married, then after having three children in Campbellton, paid for passage to the Carlinas around 1770. Their ship was detoured to Prince Edward Island, where Elizabeth succombed to the hardships of the unsettled land. Their daughter, Ann, was raised by John and Mary Taylor Ramsay, and she later married Malcolm Ramsay who was also being raised by his Uncle John. Their son, Charles, was raised by the Matthews's family and their daughter, Elizabeth married Charles. James married Elizabeth Mary MacLean. The families stayed for sometime in Prince Edward Island, then began to settle in New Brunsick, Ontario and other locations. The story remains primarily the same for the three branches of the MacNeill family concerning the Campbell being the daughter of the duke of Argyll marrying a commoner MacNeill. If anyone has information about a similar story, even if the names are slightly different, please contact me so that we can continue to piece together the story.

I'm also searching for the Hawthorn/Hawthornes (Hans Hawthorn & Sarah MacNeill) who married into the MacNeill family of PEI, of Greenock Township, Bruce County, Ontario and the Cramer, Creamer, Cremer, Raycroft, Raycraft families who settled in Kingston, Ontario. Abraham Cramer died in Kingston in 1841 and was a member of the Regiment there before that. We are trying to locate who his parents were. George Washington Cramer, his son, married Mary Ann Raycroft, daughter of William Raycroft and Mary Ann Burnside, both of Ireland, then settled in Kingston, Ontario.
