* The Spielman (Speelman) Family Home Page*

Updated September 6, 2000

I have traced the Spielman (Speelman) Family back to the 9th century in England. And, yes, Francis Cardinal Spellman was a cousin of mine. Also, George Washington appears to be the bastard son of Virginia Governor John Spielman. John was challenged to a duel by Augustine Washington, George's adoptive father, if he didn't quit making disparging remarks about George's mother. John had been dating George's mother. Also, Captain John Smith was not saved by Pocohontas. Henry Spielman was and Henry and Pocohontas had a son Thomas from whom John descended. Eventually, I will get all of this published in World Family Tree Project, but in the meantime would enjoy conversations with you'll.Sincerely Yours,David V. SpielmanPostscript: Recently, I received mail from F. Gerald Caruso concerning this message, but not e-mail address. If anyone knows Mr. Caruso, please send me his e-mail address.
